<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflection type display apparatus having a recursive reflection plate and excellent display characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: This display apparatus includes a recursive reflection layer 48, and a modulation layer 47 disposed on the observer's side of the reflection layer 48 and switchable between a first state and a second state with different optical characteristics. The reflection layer 48 has multiple unit structures disposed two-dimensionally, and disposing pitches of the unit structures are 250 μm or less. Light is incident on the reflection layer 48, and the intensity of the reflected light is measured using a recursive reflectance measuring system receiving the reflected light with a cone angle of 7.5 degree. A recursive reflectance Rr of the reflection layer 48 is 45% or more, the Rr being defined as a ratio of the intensity of the above reflected light to the intensity of the reflected light by a dielectric mirror measured by the recursive reflectance measuring system. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
