PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce spurious radiation in a network. SOLUTION: A power transmission network 40 is disclosed which includes a means for coupling telecommunication signals having a carrier frequency higher than 1MHz a power line. Preferably, a network-conditioning element 52 is used which includes a low-pass filter for filtering out a low-frequency and high-amplitude mains power signal and a telecommunication signal coupling element. In this way, both the speech and data signals can be transmitted at carrier frequencies higher than 1MHz along a standard electricity distribution and/or transmission network, which when conditioned provides a larger available spectrum per unit length of network and greater transmission capacity than those of the known types. The quiescent noise level of the conditioned network is also reduced by a large amount, thus permitting lower signal injection levels for a given signal-to-noise ratio. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
