Anode is made from a base material consisting of a cermet containing a nickel phase as metallic catalytically active component provided with a partially or completely closed covering layer made from a chromium compound. The catalytic activity is reduced for internal reforming of natural gas. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) Solid oxide fuel cell containing the above anode, a cathode and a solid oxide electrolyte; and (2) Process for the production of the anode.
