PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cut down the cost by simply realizing a structure for regulating the movement in the direction parallel to the axis of rotation while a movable flange of a continuously variable transmission is rotated integrally with the axis of rotation. SOLUTION: A primary pulley 1500 of the continuously variable transmission is composed of a fixed flange 1510 and a movable flange 1520 round which a metallic belt 1550 is wound; a roller spline 1540; and a snap ring 1560. The roller spline 1540 has such a structure that the length L(2) of the roller spline 1540 is larger than the length L(1) of the movable flange 1520 so that the movable flange 1520 can be slid to the position of abutting to the snap ring 1560 or the position of abutting to the wall surface 1530 of a hydraulic operating chamber.
