PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide window glass for a solid imaging element package, from whichα-rays are hardly emitted, and with which the quality problem associated with polishing can be solved, and which can be mass- produced at a low cost. SOLUTION: The window glass for the solid imaging element package contains, by mass, 58-72% SiO<SB>2</SB>, 1.1-12% Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, 9-18% B<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, 0.1-11.5% Na<SB>2</SB>O, 0.1-8% K<SB>2</SB>O, 0-5% Li<SB>2</SB>O, 0-20% alkaline earth metal oxide, and 0-9% ZnO, and substantially contains no As<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>. The ratio (Na<SB>2</SB>O+K<SB>2</SB>O)/Na<SB>2</SB>O is 1.1-10, and theα-ray emitting quantity from the glass is≤0.005 c/cm<SP>2</SP>×hr. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
