<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the disconnection of an electrode line. <P>SOLUTION: A light source device has a light-emitting chip 2 which is sandwiched between a first electrode 3 and a second electrode 5 to be energized via the first electrode 3 and the second electrode 5, thereby emitting a light and generating heat; and a base 3 for supporting the light-emitting chip 2. The light source device comprises an insulating layer 4 which is disposed on the base 3 and has a thickness substantially identical to a thickness of the light-emitting chip 2.
