PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce loads upon a user regarding setup of a wireless LAN. SOLUTION: An access point transmits, to a printer 20, a probe request on the basis of each of a plurality of connection methods (request). The probe request is received by a printer where an identical connection method is set (request 32) and the printer sets up a connection method specified by the probe request, that is, the same connection method as the connection method set up at the access point. Thus, by the printer being set up to the same connection method as the access point, wireless connection is made possible between both sides. In this way, as the connection method to the access point is automatically set up by way of reception of the probe request in the printer, loads upon the user regarding the setup of the wireless LAN can be reduced considerably.
