<p>A sprung element (11) for assisting the operation of hinged fittings, e.g. vehicle doors, arm rests etc., has a simplified design with a minimum of components. A cylinder (12) closed at one end is fitted to one mounting point (16) and has a piston system (17) with the piston rod (22) attached to a second mounting point (23). The piston (21) is fitted with a friction ring (31) to provide a secure grip in the extended position of the support element, and is fitted between two support discs (27) which ensure a non tilting guidance of the piston. The inner end of the cylinder is fitted with a hollow coaxial guide (41) into which slides an extension (42) of the piston system and which holds a compressed spring (37) which assists the opening movement of the support element.</p> |
