A ferrule and a method of manufacturing the ferrule, the ferrule comprising three zirconia ceramic ferrule component members (30a) to (30c), wherein two fine holes (31) for inserting optical fibers therein are drilled in the ferrule component members; the method of manufacturing the ferrule comprising the steps of filling adhesive agent from filling grooves (34) into recessed adhesive agent filler parts (33) provided at the connection surfaces between the ferrule component members, and solidifying the adhesive agent to connect the ferrule component members adjacent to each other so that the fine holes are positioned generally straight forward, wherein an engagement part (35) for engaging with a connector housing is installed on the center ferrule component member, whereby, by reducing the lengths of the ferrule component members along the fine holes to 3 mm or shorter (desirably 2 mm), the accuracy of drilling of the fine holes can be increased and, accordingly, the displacement of the axis of the optical fibers inserted into the fine holes can be prevented from occurring.
