PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zoom lens of a rear focus type permitting to downsize the whole lens system by miniaturizing a prism further without spoiling optical performances. SOLUTION: The zoom lens has a structure in which a plurality of lens groups are sequentially arranged from an object side. Among these lens groups, a 1st lens group GR1 arranged at the most object side is constituted, from the object side in order, of a front side lens group (for example, a lens L1) with negative refractive power, an optical member (for example, a prism P1) for deflecting the light path, and a rear side lens group (for example, a lens L2) with positive refractive power. Moreover, interference between the front side lens group and the rear side lens group is prevented by forming at least one lens ( for example, the lens L2) included in the rear side lens group into a shape in which part of the outer diameter is missing.
