PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the unevenness of shell thickness formed on the peripheral surface of drum in the production of a stainless steel thin cast strip using a single-drum type or a twin-drum type continuous casting apparatus. SOLUTION: In the twin-drum type continuous casting apparatus for producing the thin cast strip (t) by continuously supplying molten stainless steel (m) into a molten steel pool part 3 formed at between one pair of cooling drums 1, 1, a method for producing the thin cast strip is performed, with which a sealing chamber 6 is arranged in the molten steel pool part 3, and nitrogen gas is supplied into the chamber and also, the nitrogen concentration in the molten steel in the molten steel pool part, is made to be≥350 ppm. In this way, the intrusion of the nitrogen gas into the molten steel at gas gap between the solidified shell and the circumferential surface of the drum, is restrained and thus, the unevenness of the intrusion amount thereof is reduced and also, the unevenness of the gas gap amount caused by the intrusion amount and further, the unevenness of the shell thickness are reduced.
