The invention comprises 2-(8-quinolinylazo)-1,3-diketone dyes free from ionizable water-solubilizing groups, which are prepared by coupling a diazotized 8-amino-quinoline with a 1,3-diketone. Specified diketones are 2,4-pentanedione, 5,5-dimethyl-1,3-cyclohexadienedione, 1,3-diphenyl or -bis-(p-tolyl)1,3-propanedione and 1-phenyl-1,3-butane-dione. The dyes may be used to colour polyolefin fibres containing a Werner complex-forming metal in yellow to red shades as described in Specification 992,562.
