<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly-active esterification reaction catalyst highly effective by use of a small amount, which scarcely colors and causes no bad influence on physical properties even if the catalyst remains. <P>SOLUTION: The catalyst is used for the esterification reaction (a) of an organic acid (b) selected from organometallic compounds represented by general formulae (1)-(3) and alcohol (c), wherein L represents a monovalent organic acid group represented by a halogen atom, R<SP>1</SP>-, R<SP>1</SP>O-, R<SP>1</SP>S-, R<SP>1</SP>OCO-, R<SP>1</SP>COO- and R<SP>1</SP>NHCO-; J<SP>1</SP>represents a monovalent organic acid group represented by R<SP>2</SP>OCO- and R<SP>2</SP>COO-; J<SP>2</SP>represents a divalent organic acid group represented by -OR<SP>3</SP>-OCO-, -OR<SP>3</SP>-COO-, -OCOR<SP>3</SP>-OCO-, -OCOR<SP>3</SP>-COO- and -OOCR<SP>3</SP>-COO-; n, p, q and r pieces of L may be the same or different; n, q and r are 2 or 3; p is 1 or 2; and M represents a titanium atom or a zirconium atom. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
