PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new rat-attracting component applicable to bait for rats and a rat-capturing and attracting material for rat-capturing devices. SOLUTION: Since 1-nonanal is effective as an attracting ingredient for rats, the above problem can be solved by the following inventions. (1) An attractant for rats comprising 1-nonanal as an active ingredient. (2) A rat-attracting method comprising treating the attractant for rats containing attractive active amount of 1-nonanal in the passage of rats. (3) Use of 1-nonanal for attracting the rats.
