PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the smoothness in the folding operation of a wheelchair while securing the comfort for a seated person. SOLUTION: In the folding wheelchair, left and right side frames 1 are connected with link rods 15 and 16, and a backrest 3 is structured to be laid down on a seat body 2 and rotated. The seat body 2 is mounted on a seat frame 17, and the seat frame 17 is attached to the left and right side frames 1 so that the seat frame can be rotated downward around the left side. A support member loaded on a member of the right side frame 1 for holding the horizontal state of the seat body 2 is retreatably mounted on the right side of the seat frame 17. The wheelchair also has a lock means to prevent the support member from retreating unless the backrest 2 is laid down forward so that the support member is prevented from accidentally retreating while the user is seated.
