PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system capable of easily attaining image transmission in a real time communication service with low load by using a standard protocol on a network. SOLUTION: In step S2, a user terminal device 2 uploads a selected image icon 41A to an HTTP server 8. In step S3, the device 2 notifies a user terminal device 5 of a user B about the change in image icon and an address specifying the location of the HTTP server 8. In step S4, the device 5 tries to download the image icon. The device 5 displays the downloaded image icon 41B on an image icon display region 38B of an opposite party list display region.
