PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a PDP which is suitable for high definition, and has stabilized discharge characteristics by reducing discharge delay at the time of addressing, and additionally, has superior image display quality by stabilizing priming discharge. SOLUTION: The PDP includes multilayered first layer barrier ribs 111 and second layer barrier ribs 112 to compart a plurality of main discharge cells 12 composed of scanning electrodes 6, sustaining electrodes 7, and data electrodes 10; and a plurality of priming discharge cells 16 composed of the scanning electrodes 6 and priming electrodes 15. At least the first layer barrier ribs 111 serve as second dielectric layers 18 for covering the priming electrodes 15, and the second layer barrier ribs 112 are formed on the second dielectric layers 18.
