METHOD, SYSTEM AND PROGRAM FOR SEARCHING FOR FACE IMAGE CANDIDATE AREA

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method, system and program for searching for face image candidate areas capable of rapidly searching an image for areas where a person's face image very likely exists.

SOLUTION: An identification means 30 is caused to learn image feature quantities obtained through the filtering of a sample image by a circumference filter 28. An image G to be searched for is filtered using the circumference filter 28 to detect the rotationally invariant image feature quantity of each area filtered. Each of the image feature quantities detected is inputted to the identification means 30. This makes it possible to rapidly determine whether or not a filtering area is a face image candidate area, while also greatly reducing the number of degrees of the image feature quantities and thus greatly reducing the time to learn the sample image as well as the amount of identification work.
