<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To save a space and improve operability in a copying machine system inclusive of an automatic document feeder and a document reading section. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is constructed so that the automatic document feeder is arranged below the document reading section and above an image forming section and according to a mode set by a user, documents after reading of images are discharged selectively to an in-shell sheet aftertreatment device or to a discharge tray of a printer.
