PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus where vertical stripes due to filming on an image, the occurrence of image roughness and failures such as the turnover of a cleaning blade on an endless belt type intermediate transfer body are prevented. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with a photoreceptor, an electrifier for electrifying the photoreceptor, an image exposure means for writing an electrostatic latent image on the photoreceptor, a developing unit for forming the electrostatic latent image to a toner image, the intermediate transfer body, a primary transfer means for transferring the toner image on the photoreceptor to the intermediate transfer body, a secondary transfer means for transferring the transfer image transferred on the intermediate transfer body to a transfer material, and an applying means for applying lubricant on the photoreceptor, wherein the lubricant is fatty acid metal salt lubricant containing at least Ca, and the toner to which the lubricant of≥0.03 mass % of the total toner amount is added is used. In addition to a cleaning means for cleaning the toner on the surface of the intermediate transfer body, a polishing means is provided for polishing the surface of the intermediate transfer body.
