PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a galvanized steel sheet having small sliding resistance at the time of press forming, and having excellent press formability. SOLUTION: In the galvanized steel sheet where the plating layer is composed mainly of aηphase, on the surface of the plating, Fe-containing Zn based oxide and/or Zn based hydroxide in which the ratio of Fe atoms (Fe/(Fe+Zn)) is 1 to 50% is present. Preferably, the area ratio of the parts where the Zn based oxide and/or the Zn based hydroxide is present, occupied in the surface of the plating is≥15%. Further, the Zn based oxide and/or the Zn based hydroxide preferably has fine ruggedness composed of projecting parts and discontinuous recessed parts surrounded by the projecting parts.
