PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that a cleaning process is liable to be complicated though the surface of glass is needed to keep clean before forming a metal film because foreign matter is easily adhered to the glass surface on which there are hydroxide groups such as silanol groups in large amounts, the foreign matter once adhered is hardly removed, when a metal film or the like is deposited on the surface while leaving the foreign matter as it is, the metal film is easily stripped off from the stained part and the quality of the film is deteriorated. SOLUTION: In the reflection type optical element, a reflective layer is formed on the surface of a solid having a prescribed shape, and a contact angle of water when the surface of the solid is clean is≥50°. The surface of the solid having the contact angle of≥50°can be realized by using a gel film principally comprising a mixture of methyl triethoxy silane and tetra-ethoxy silane. The molding contains methyl triethoxy silane, therefore, there are methyl groups on the surface and the contact angle to water can be increased. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
