PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method of heat development that can control the generation of density unevenness of image and stabilize the density, from the point of view different from the conventional techniques. SOLUTION: As a laser exposure portion 305 exposes a film F so as to compensate for the unevenness in temperature in either one side of the conveyance direction of a photosensitive material of thermal development and the width direction of a drum 14 with the image data that an image data compensating portion 303 has already been compensated from the compensated data, even if the unevenness in the temperature in the drum 14 occurs to some extent, a image of higher-quality can be obtained, by adjusting the density of the image formed in the film F.
