<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piston for a swash plate type compressor with a tail part having a head to be inserted into a cylinder bore and a shoe holding portion, the tail part having a circular arcuate sliding face with the inner peripheral face of a compressor housing, for effectively taking lubricating oil deposited on the inner periphery of the compressor housing into the shoe holding portion. <P>SOLUTION: The piston for the swash plate type compressor comprises the tail part having the head to be inserted into the cylinder bore and the shoe holding portion, the tail part having the circular arcuate sliding contact face with the inner peripheral face of the compressor housing.
