PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus reading an image with a sufficient wide dynamic range. SOLUTION: The image reading apparatus is provided with: a light source; a read section for generating image data on the basis of light obtained from an original to which the light source emits the light; a first level revision section for revising a light receiving level of the read section by a first system; a second level revision section for revising the light receiving level by a second system different from the first system; a control section for multiply revising the light receiving levels to produce a plurality of the light receiving levels; and a composite section for composing a plurality of image data obtained by reading the original under a plurality of the respective light receiving levels.
