PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hand roller permitting precise keeping of an application width of an undercoating paint without a high skill of a worker and ensuring an application width of a finishing paint wider than that of an undercoating paint, a method of painting the surface of exterior plates and a method of producing exterior corner members. SOLUTION: The hand roller 10 is for applying an undercoating paint 13 to a chambered part 12 of a member 11 in which corner parts for corners of a building are chambered and the substrate of which is exposed. In the roller 10, a roll 16 capable of tumbling along the chambered part 12 as the paint 13 is applied is supported by a handle 17.
