<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an input key and an input device capable of selectively inputting five or more text information elements by a simple input operation. <P>SOLUTION: When a key top 50 of an input key 10a is moved in a depression direction or moved complexly in the up, down, left, or right (front, back, left, or right) direction in addition to the depression direction, an upper electrode 20 as a first contact comes in contact with two or more conducting pieces placed in different positions of a lower electrode 30 as a second contact in accordance with the moving directions of the five directions. Then, one of five characters assigned to the input key 10a is selected by a text selector based on conduction signals from the two or more conducting pieces in contact, and thereby the one selected character is inputted.
