PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition which is used for tires, reduces the weights of the tires, and improves the frictional force of the tires on ice. SOLUTION: This rubber composition comprising 100 pts.wt. of a dienic rubber and 0.5 to 25 pts.wt. of thermally expandable microcapsules comprising thermoplastic resin particles encapsulating a substance which is thermally evaporated or expanded to produce a gas is characterized in that the shell material of the thermally expandable microcapsules comprises a thermoplastic resin polymerized from a nitrile-based monomer (I) as a main component monomer, a monomer (II) having an unsaturated double bond and a carboxy group in the molecule, a monomer (II) having two or more polymerizable double bonds, and, if necessary, a copolymerizable monomer (IV) for adjusting the expansion characteristics.
