The invention relates to a method for refurbishing the exterior walls (10) of buildings or for protecting said walls in a precautionary manner against the penetration of water. A profiled film (24) of a material that is impermeable to water vapour, one side of said film being provided with a high-tensile woven material (28), is applied to the exterior of the building wall, in such a way that the woven material lies on the exterior that faces away from the building and a layer of air that is in contact with the atmosphere is formed between the exterior of the existing wall and the side of the film facing towards the building. A preparatory render (30) is applied to the side of the film (24) that is provided with the woven material (28), said render enclosing the latter and hardening or setting and an external coating that determines the appearance of the building wall, e.g. a sealing render (32), is then applied to the exterior once the preparatory render has solidified. Preferably, a film web (50) is used to carry out said method. |
