The present invention concerns a method of controlling a wind power installation at very high wind speeds, in which there is predetermined a first wind speed at which the rotor blades of the wind power installation ar e put into a first predetermined setting. The object of the present invention is therefore to provide a method of controlling a wind power installation and a wind power installation for carrying out that method, which in an extreme wind situation are in a position to reduce as far as possible mechanical loadings on the wind power installation, which occur due to that extreme wind. A method of controlling a wind power installation comprising a machine housing and a rotor with at least one rotor blade, in which the rotor of the wind power installation is put into a first predetermined position upon the attainment of a first predetermined wind speed (shut-down speed, limit speed) which is greater than 20 m/s and the machine housing (12) is put into a predetermined azimuth position upon the attainment of a second predetermined wind speed which is markedly higher than the first predetermined wind speed. |
