An optical module having a circuit board (1) that includes an imaging element; a lens barrel (11) that is fixed to the circuit board and that receives a lens holder so as to be movable in the optical axis direction (LD), the lens holder including a lens for focusing an image on an imaging surface of the imaging element; a hollow-cylindrical cam (15) that is provided outside the lens barrel, that has a cam surface engaging a projection member extending from the side surface of the lens holder, and that moves the lens holder; and a drive section where an actuator (30) drives the hollow-cylindrical cam through a ring train (36, 43, 44). The optical module system has a positioning member (40) for setting a positional relationship between the lens barrel and the drive section.
