A process for producing a 2'-deoxy-2'-fluoro-beta-D-arabinonucleoside represented by the formula (II): (wherein B represents a base), characterized by causing nucleoside phosphorylase to act on either alpha-1-phosphorylated-2-deoxy-2-fluoroarabinoside, which is represented by the formula (I): or a mixture of the alpha- and beta-isomers of 1-phosphorylated-2-deoxy-2-fluoroarabinoside, which are represented by the formula (V'): and on a base. Thus, the target compound, in particular, 2'-deoxy-2'-fluoro-beta-D-arabinopurine nucleoside, can be easily and highly stereoselectively produced in a high yield.
