The method involves forming by an exposure head (20) coding marks (14a,14b) associated with a data to be recorded, on a photographic film, where each coding mark is formed with a luminous energy value that depends upon a value of the data to be recorded on the film. A sensitometry control (16) is formed on the film, where the sample covers a range of luminous energy values. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) a method for reading coded data recorded on the film (b) a photographic medium comprising coding marks.
