It is possible to improve the tracking control accuracy. A tracking control device includes a filter unit (106) having a plurality of low-pass filters (LPF). Each of the low-pass filters (LPF) removes a component having frequency above a predetermined cut-off frequency from a corresponding reception light quantity signal among the reception light quantity signals outputted from light detection means (6). The tracking control device includes: a tracking error detection unit (104) for performing a predetermined calculation for the signals outputted from the filter unit (106) so as to generate a tracking error signal indicating a difference between the light beam spot and the track to be scanned on the recording surface of the optical disc; and a tracking control unit (102) for driving moving means (101) so that the light beam spot follows the track on the recording surface of the optical disc according to the tracking error signal.
