The pivot axis (9) for the back wheel pinion (8) is located beneath the seat (1) and the distance from this axis to the rear edge of the seat is 0.55-0.85 times the length of one of the side edges of the seat. The pinion can be pivoted through an angle of at least 120 deg. relative to the wheelchair frame. The back wheels (6) have a diameter which is greater than or equal to the length of one of the side edges of the seat. The wheelchair has one or two steerable front wheels (5), two back wheels and at least one endless track (7) or endless belt. The back wheels are mounted on the pinion, the rotation axis for which extends parallel to the rear edge of the seat. |
