Porcess for the heat treatment of medium carbon steels

Process for heat treating carbon-containing steels, especially sheets or tubes, comprises heating the steel to the austenizing temperature and quenching to room temperature using water as a cooling medium. The temperature of the water is adjusted in one region above room temperature to below 80[deg]C for carbon steels having carbon contents of 0.35-0.5 %.
