A spinner assembly for making man-made vitreous fibres comprises centrifugal fiberising rotors (5, 6, 7, 8) driven by motors (42) and air supply outlets (9) supplied with air through air supply passages (15). The air is supplied to these passages by an axial compressor comprising an air inlet zone (22), a compressor portion(25) and an annular diffuser (33) which leads into the passages (15). The compressor portion (25) includes a prime mover (28) which drives compressor rotor blades (27). |
