<p>The antitheft device is based on a control unit (2) which communicates over a radio link via antennas (6, 8) mounted on or in the vehicle, with a data carrier, such as a smart card, carried by the driver. The control unit oversees the operation of an immobilizer (4) and also the locking of the vehicle doors. A switch (22), mounted on the inside of the driver's door, is connected to the controller such that in one position locking of the doors is initiated automatically, once the smart card is sensed to be outside the vehicle, while in the other position manual activation of an external switch is required.</p> |
