The switch has a longer part (1) made-up of carbon steel and a shorter part (3) made up of a Hadfield type steel with a high content manganese. The longer part and shorter part that corresponds to a tapered zone of a mono-metal switch are assembled by welding via an insert (2) made-up of austeno-ferritic steel at low content carbon. The split switchs cross-section is reinforced locally in the insert zone and two adjacent zones.
