In a device for fastening a strap comprising a tubular clamping member 13 which is non- rotatable but slidably guided for movement in its transverse direction and in the ends of which there are disposed elements 14a, 14b of plastics material to form means for manually operating the clamping member, each element includes a means for insertion in the clamping member such that when the elements are inserted in the clamping member from opposite ends thereof, the means on one element is brought into a form closing engagement with the means on the other element whereby to prevent the elements from being pulled apart. As shown, the elements each include a stud portion 15a and 15b and are provided with interengaging knurled portions 17a and 17b. The member 13 is of oval cross-section located in elongated apertures in side plates 11, 11 and is movable transversely into or out of engagement with a fixed bar (not shown) to retain a strap (not shown) passed about the member. In another arrangement, Fig. 3 (not shown), a stud portion of one element is connected through a stud and socket connection with one end of a rod, the other end of which is similarly connected to a stud portion of the other element. |
