PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate problems that a gel-coated seed readily sticks to the top surface of a sowing plate, is easily deformable and thereby deteriorates the fluidity and the seed is difficult to store in each seed storing hole and to provide a method for sowing the seed applicable to the gel-coated seed and an apparatus for sowing. SOLUTION: The method for sowing the gel-coated seed is carried out by adding water to the gel-coated seed in a state of a shutter on one side of a sowing plate body kept in the closed shutter, feeding the gel-coated seed, keeping the shutter on the one side of the sowing plate in a state of the opened shutter and excluding the excessive gel-coated seed without being stored in each seed storing hole on the seed storing plate. The apparatus for sowing is obtained by placing the seed storing plate having the seed storing holes above the base of the sowing plate body and composing the sowing plate. In the apparatus, the shutter is provided on the one side of the sowing plate body and the discharge of the excessive gel-coated seed on the seed storing plate without being stored in each seed storing hole on the seed storing plate is facilitated.
