<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retrieval system which can solve a problem which cannot be identified only by referring to journal data in dealings conducted using a POS terminal. <P>SOLUTION: A camera 1 photographs the POS terminal 10 and a camera 2 photographs a periphery of an article 43 placed on a checkout counter 40 by a visitor 42. These photographed images are stored in a photo journal recorder 20.Journal data JD (dealing historical data) and operation historical data PD are output from the POS terminal 10, and these data are also recorded on a photo journal recorder 20. These data VD, JD, and PD can be corellated on the basis of time information contained in each data.
