PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a muffler suitably reducing corrosion of a muffler main body. SOLUTION: This muffler comprises the muffler main body 11 in which end faces 12T, 12D of a shell 12 are closed with outer plates 13, 14 to form an exhaust chamber R; separators 15, 16 disposed in the muffler main body 11 to partition the exhaust chamber R; an inlet pipe 31 introducing exhaust from the engine into the exhaust chamber R; and an outlet pipe 32 leading the exhaust of the exhaust chamber R to the outside. A form of the shell 12 is set so that an axis of the shell 12 approximately vertically intersects with a vehicle ground surface in a state where the vehicle is equipped with the muffler 1, and a lowermost separator (second separator) 16 inside the muffler main body 11 in this state is joined only with an inner peripheral face 12I of the shell, so as to partition the exhaust chamber R.
