PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance alignment accuracy as much as possible for an optical member having alignment marks and a liquid crystal display. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display is provided with a scanning electrode substrate to be the optical member. The scanning electrode substrate is provided with an alignment layer provided in a first region of a transparent substrate and subjected to alignment treatment in a prescribed direction, the alignment marks 4 provided in a second region S2 on the outer side of the first region of the transparent substrate and dummy patterns provided in a region S3 other than the first and the second regions of the transparent substrate. At least a portion 5b of the dummy patterns constitutes a trap for catching rubbing powder of the alignment layer. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
