PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wheel speed sensing system for accurately detecting abnormality of rotating pulse train signal for wheel speed detection. SOLUTION: In this system, sensor units 20a-20d output rotation detecting signal Vsj (j=1-4) representing rotation of rotors 10a-10d which rotate together with each wheel, respectively. This rotation detecting signal Vsj is the pulse train signal indicating rotative speed and direction of the rotors 10a-10d. Both a microcomputer 40 and a rotative direction sensing element 50 detect rotative direction and speed of the wheels based on the rotation detecting signal Vsj. Also, the microcomputer 40 determines presence of abnormality in the rotation detecting signal Vsj, provided that the rotative direction of one wheel differs from those of other remaining wheels.
