PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely discharge a liquid under a stable condition, even when liquid no longer comes out from a liquid discharge port due to dust, disconnection or the like, or even when the liquid comes out poorly therefrom. SOLUTION: This liquid discharge head 121 is provided with a flow passage 107, connected with a liquid supply port 108 and the plurality of liquid discharge ports 106a, 106b, and for passing the liquid, a discharge control means for selectively operating a plurality of heaters 102a, 102b for discharging the liquid from the respective liquid discharge ports, a discharge detecting means for detecting whether the liquid is discharged from the liquid discharge ports, and a no-discharge storing means for storing a no-discharge condition in the liquid discharge ports, when the discharge detecting means detects that no liquid has been discharged from the liquid discharge port 106a, corresponding to the heater 102a selected by the discharge control means. The discharge control means discharge-controls the heater 102b, corresponding to the liquid discharge port 106b other than the liquid discharge port under the no-discharge condition stored in the no-discharge storage means.
