A corona discharge unit includes identical trough-shaped conductive shields 216, housing parallel wires 234, 236 and spaced apart to allow a web of photo-conductive material to pass therebetween. The shields may be maintained at the same floating potential. Stainless steel wires 234 and 236 are mounted under the tension of springs 237 between metal stirrups 230. The stirrups 230 are positioned in hollow plastic mouldings 222, 224 which are spaced laterally by solid blocks 212, 214 of Lucite (R.T.M.) Nylon monofilament 262 is wound round each shield 216 to act as a guide for the web material.</p> |
