<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an observer to easily watch characters such as letters or symbols. <P>SOLUTION: A mode control part 100 that receives a character display starting request, switches a display 101 and an image processing part 102 from a 3D mode to a 2D mode. The display 101 is turned into the state of no parallax barrier before an image display panel. The image processing part 102 selects and extracts only either one of a left eye image or a right eye image from an image storage part 103.
