PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable information terminal, a message distribution method, and a message distribution program capable of offering an interface for a push type message distribution application and supporting low-cost system construction. SOLUTION: This portable information terminal 1 receives distribution of a message from a message distribution server 2 generates message representing an identifier of a mobile application 100 and a processing instruction to be executed by the mobile application 100. A message service driver 210 receives a message transmitted from the message distribution server 2, and in receipt of the notification of the message from the message service driver 210, a push driver control part 200 notifies of the reception of the message to a message receiving part 130, which is registered for message notification previously. Based on the identifier of the mobile application 100, shown by the receipt message notified from the push driver control part 200, the message receiving part 130 notifies the reception message, to the matching mobile application 100 among a plurality of mobile applications 100.
