PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a variable mechanism which alters a distance between an imaging device and a lens to easily be fitted in the housing of a portable terminal device having in the housing an imaging part composed of the imaging device and the lens. SOLUTION: In the portable terminal device, the variable mechanism 21 includes: a lens holder 41 which holds the lens 29; a holder lever 43 which projects radially from the outer circumferential surface of the lens holder 41; a slide operation part 45 exposed outward and capable of moving in the direction of the length of a trajectory hole 52 made in the housing 2; and a movable mechanism which moves the lens 29 in the direction of an optical axis L2 when the lens holder 41 is rotated. The slide operation part 45 has an engaging part 53 which engages with the trajectory hole 52, and a connecting part 67 which is disposed inside the housing 2 and connects to the holder lever 43. When the slide operation part 45 is moved along the trajectory hole 52, the lens holder 41 rotates around the optical axis L2, thereby altering a distance between the lens 29 and the imaging device 27.
